MIMIX Monitor for AS/400
MIMIX Monitor is like having that extra person you need but just don't have the budget for. MIMIX Monitor keeps an eye on your AS/400 environment 24 hours a day, checking systems and software for events and conditions, and then automatically responding to those conditions. MIMIX Monitor actions can range from report generation when a specified condition occurs, notification when ASP levels reach a certain level, or initiation of automatic switchover to a backup system in case of production system failure.
MIMIX Monitor reviews the status of your system at scheduled intervals, leaving you free to tackle more challenging work.
Centralized Monitoring - Ready Access to All Monitors
MIMIX Monitor for AS/400 presents all monitor programs on a single screen with a uniform set of commands, minimizing the time and effort required for inserting or removing monitors or changing their parameters. Other data monitoring tools created by customers and third-party companies can be easily added through this interface. MIMIX Monitor includes prepackaged UPS monitor programs that check to ensure backup power levels are adequate.
Automatic Switching for Data and Application Availability
MIMIX Monitor, used with MIMIX Replicator, enables a completely automated switchover process from production system to backup system during unplanned downtime. MIMIX Monitor determines the need to switch to a backup system by examining specific events, and then triggering the logical and physical switches for network communications and hardware devices necessary to move users to the backup system. The MIMIX Monitor switch capability can also be used to offload your production system during planned downtime (i.e. routine system maintenance, nightly backups). Customization determined by the customers environment and recovery time goals are necessary to determine the events leading up to the switch.
How MIMIX Monitor Enables Automated Switchover Capabilities MIMIX Monitor manages both logical and physical switching. The logical switch controls the TCP/IP attributes and the timing of the communications switchover. The physical switch automatically and directly communicates with the gang switch controller to effect a switch. A variety of combined events can trigger a switch including monitoring communication objects, message queues, journals or scheduling a switchover.

Features:
- User Exits provide the flexibility to insert user-specified routines almost anywhere in the command stream to customize the switching process.
- Message Logging feature sends status messages to multiple queues and logs, ensuring the visibility of critical information.
- Impersonation of the production TCP/IP address on the backup system allows users to connect to the backup system transparently.
- No additional equipment is required for physical switches, thus eliminating any extra point of failure.
- Operator interface facilitates manual control over the remote gang switch controller.
- Remote support allows you to initiate a switch through the gang switch controller from a distance.
- Interfaces with twinax, coax, RJ11, RS232, V.24, v.35. X.21, DB9, DB15 or any device that can be directly attached to an AS/400.
- MIMIX Monitor also provides management for AS/400 communication engines.
- Automated verification loop ensures that communication objects are operating as expected.
- Attempts recovery of AS/400 line, controller and devices that have failed.
MIMIX Solutions
MIMIX is at use today in leading companies worldwide for a variety of data and application availability requirements. MIMIX is widely used in all major industries including finance, retail, manufacturing, travel and transportation, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and many others.
- Continuous Operations, High Availability-
Disaster Recovery MIMIX can be used on a single AS/400 server to replicate between separate auxiliary storage pools for testing, backup, query or other uses. MIMIX can also be deployed on an LPAR configured server to replicate between different partitions providing continuous availability benefits. This is extremely important for ERP applications and e-business initiatives, where data and applications must be available 24x7. Implemented on two or more AS/400 servers over a LAN or WAN, MIMIX can provide continuous operations plus the added high availability protection against hardware or system failure. For companies in areas susceptible to natural disasters, MIMIX Replicator is used to keep two or more AS/400s in remote facilities synchronized at all times, adding disaster recovery to the list of benefits provided.
Workload Balancing Environment -
Distributed Parallel Databases
Some environments require data distribution to multiple systems, which can cause heavy processing loads on one AS/400 system. With MIMIX, this environment can be balanced by distributing the workload between servers using a cascading topology. Each step of the cascade is defined separately which allows replication of only the required data and system objects. MIMIX also enables distributed parallel databases for further workload balancing capability, allowing applications to work on the same data on different servers

- Application-Tuned Solutions
While MIMIX is application-independent, Lakeview Technology has developed complete application-specific solutions for the SAP R/3 and MQSeries-based applications. Unique enhancements have been made to MIMIX to provide specific capabilities important to these environments. In an SAP R/3 environment, MIMIX enables virtually uninterrupted computing in the event of an outage with two-tier and three-tier configuration.
Get the Power of Information Availability with MIMIX. With MIMIX your information is always on the backup system. MIMIX can protect your environment from downtime while using your backup system to generate reports, submit batch jobs, perform backups to tape, and can be used for distributed processing, allowing applications to be off-loaded to a backup system for maximum CPU usage.
System Requirements
- One or more AS/400 Systems (Intra-system capability).
- MIMIX products require journaling on the production system (journaling is optional on the backup system). A journaling environment can be automated with the MIMIX products.
- Supports OS/400: V4R3 and V4R4. MIMIX also supports the ability to replicate data between different release levels of the OS/400 operating system.
- MIMIX supports TCP/IP, SNA, OptiConnect or a combination of these communication protocols.
- MIMIX products are NLS enabled and support DBCS.
